According to MSU police, a female patient reported on April 3, 2025 that she was assaulted by resident physician Dr. Arpit Saxena while he was examining her at the MSU Health Care facility on Hagardon Road. MSU removed Saxena from patient care four days later and dismissed him from his position. A second woman later came forward reporting a similar assault during one of her appointments.
MSU police submitted the case to the Ingham County Prosecutor's Office on August 28, 2026. On September 3, 2026, prosecutors charged Saxena with three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct — a felony warrant signed with no bond. He was arrested on September 4, 2026, at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
MSU says it is now working to contact every patient Saxena saw between July 1, 2024, and April 7, 2025, to ask them to come forward if they experienced inappropriate conduct during an appointment.
